THE PREMISE

A Vermont farm shaped by the land and cared for with patience, imagination and purpose.

Monsalvat Farm is nearly 400 acres in Barnard, Vermont, where pastures, old stone walls and forested hills carry the feeling of a much older world.

Its fields, buildings and trails form one living landscape: a place to tend, make, gather and return to in every season.

THE SANCTUARY

Stone, timber,
and wonder.

Completed in 2009 after a decade of work, the Sanctuary takes its cues from the land itself: granite quarried in New Hampshire, Vermont slate, reclaimed Boston cobblestones and timber framed by hand.

It is the center of farm life: a place for a fire after a long walk, a table full of friends, music, books and the familiar rhythm of the seasons.
